Obelisk Atocha Park, Ciudad Real:
Atocha Park, spanning 30,000 m², honors the victims of the March 11, 2004, attack. PCLD's lighting design around the obelisk features 68 Ghidini projectors creating layered light effects. Designed by architect Emilio Velado.
Atocha Park is the green area defined by the General Plan in the so-called N-4 polygon.
It is located north of the university area, limited by José María de la Fuente, San Isidoro, Miguel Delibes and Cardenal Lorenzana streets of Ciudad Real.
Atocha Park, Ciudad Real The green area has an area of nearly 30,000 square meters, divided into two areas, along Cardenal Lorenzana Street, of 23,500 and 6,500 square meters respectively. The total public space, including the aforementioned road, occupies an area of approximately 31,000 square meters.
In its immediate surroundings there are university teaching centers, facilities and a residential area.
It is a recently built neighborhood inhabited mainly by young families with children and university students.
The execution of the works began in 2005 and has been carried out in three successive phases, the last of which was completed in 2007.
The Atocha Park project was born from the decision of the Ciudad Real City Council to allocate the entire green area of the city to serve as a tribute and memory to the victims of the attack of March 11, 2004.
This tribute and I remember the victims who that day were traveling on the trains heading to the Atocha station in Madrid.
The lighting around the obelisk was an installation to 68 little projectors from Ghidini lighting with GU10, that was located at the corner and created the effect of different boxes of light that decrease in height.
