Located in a historic 1702 palace in the Gothic Quarter, Hotel Arai combines heritage and luxury with 31 exclusive rooms, a restaurant, and leisure facilities. PCLD's lighting design highlights the building's original frescos with warm wall washers.
Located in the former Palau dels Quatre Rius, it is right in the heart of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, next to the city's most important tourist and cultural attractions.
The building was the residence of several families of Catalan nobility, and Manuela de Quijada Verdugo, a relative of the Marquis of Squillace, turned it into a palace.
The building dates back to 1702 and is most notable for the original frescos on its façade, the work of the master builder, which form part of the city's Architectural, historic, and artistic heritage.
It is named Palau dels Quatre Rius (Palace of the Four Rivers) due to the allegorical representation of the Danube, Nile, Ganges, and La Plata rivers on the main façade, which also reproduces the four seasons.
The Arai Aparthotel has a restaurant, private meeting and function room, terrace, pool, solarium, gym, and sauna, as well as 31 exclusive rooms with their own fully equipped kitchens.
The lighting proposal was to enhance the original frescos in his facade using some wall washer with spotwarm light.
